Cooking Up a Nor’Easter

If you’ve been following me on twitter recently, you’ll know I’ve been hard at work setting up what I’d originally dubbed as the Great Canadian East Coast Culinary-Themed Family Road Trip. While we’ve spared you that exhausting title and trimmed the name down to Canadian East Eats, it gives you a good idea of what is en route to Chef Dad column on UrbanMoms.ca this month.

When I originally thought of planning a trip East this summer I was really disappointed by the lack of information online for families looking to make road trips through Eastern Canada. From a culinary tourism perspective, while there are some great sites on individual stops along the way, I couldn’t find anything that would help me lay out a good end-to-end route. So I though I’d blaze a trail for you all. Follow along, and hopefully we’ll inspire you to set out on your own culinary-themed family adventure.

Quite appropriately, I’m hopping in a GMC Acadia (yes, some subtle Canadian History humour…) with my 3 kids and we are eating our way East and back. With stops in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and PEI, the itinerary is shaping together beautifully – I can’t wait to share it with you all.

Here’s a sneak peak at our route:
